Manufacture sacrée restitue un travail d’enquête autour des marques, sigles, cachets et signatures lapidaires d’ouvriers dans l’art du bâti, des maçons aux tailleurs de pierre, des bâtisseurs de cathédrale de l’époque romane aux ouvriers contemporains.
La publication fait écho à un travail engagé dans le contexte de la résidence Art & Territoire (2021 – 2022) portée par le Syndicat Potentiel à Strasbourg, entre les sites de la voirie publique et les ateliers de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame, en partenariat avec la Fondation de l’Œuvre Notre Dame, le service des voies publiques et la Ville de Strasbourg, pour la réalisation d’un carré magique collectif.
Manufacture sacrée restitutes a work of investigation around construction site worker’s handmade marks, sigils, seals and signatures in stone regarding the art of building, from masons to stonemasons, from Romanesque cathedral builders to contemporary workers.
The publication echoes work undertaken in the context of the Art & Territoire residency (2021 – 2022) carried out by the Syndicat Potentiel in Strasbourg, between the public road sites and the workshops of the Œuvre Notre-Dame, in partnership with the Fondation de l’Œuvre Notre Dame, the public roads department and the City of Strasbourg, for the creation of a collective magic square
